AF-S VR 200 f/2

Arrives for testing as from 16 November 2005

17 November 2005: wow, its heavier and chunkier than I thought!!!
First glance, LOTS of buttons, good finish, rubber mount (VR requirement?), nice carry bag, allows for mounted body as well, nice touch!.
never understand Nikon, big lens, lots of buttons, hi tech instrument, small (6) page manual??? 1st page deals with usual blurb about not using it as a shot putt, otherwise warranty is invalid etc etc

Ok, 1st shots were not of highest quality, just managed to sneak out and get some very quick Weaver shots. Limited time, limited opportunities, shooting wide open (after all thats what this lens is for), shows this is a seriously sharp lens, even wide open, image attached has no processing other than copying subject for larger view. By the way this is already from an HSC crop at 250iso.
